Rooted in Governance
Building the Board Oversight that Prevents Crisis
Part of
Session 1
Time: 9:00 am–10:00 am
Activity Type: Presentation
Description
Many nonprofit crises, from financial missteps to lack of succession planning, stem from Boards operating in "hibernation mode". This session provides a practical roadmap for board engagement and oversight, focusing on the essentials of good governance. Tips include establishing key policies (Financial, Conflict of Interest, Personnel) as necessary "guardrails", implementing effective succession planning, and clearly defining the line between the Board’s role (governance) and the Staff’s role (management).
